STEPHEN FOR TLDSB TRUSTEE
MY STORY
I began working at the TLDSB in 2006 teaching elementary school. In 2012, I moved to the secondary panel where I became a department head. In 2018 I was presented with an opportunity to work for a non-profit organization called ICTC where I worked with students and teachers from across Canada with a focus on building students' digital skills. This was a federally funded program which was aimed at preparing students for the work force of tomorrow by encouraging them to participate in the Digital Economy. In 2020, I was hired by a software company called DigitalEd which is where I am currently employed.

I am running for TLDSB trustee because I have a passion for the education sector and want to continue contributing to the growth and improvement of our school board. I have two daughters who are currently in elementary school at TLSDB.

I believe that having worked as a teacher and in the private sector I can bring a unique perspective to the TRUSTEE table.

Inclusion
Every student and educational worker deserves to learn and work in a safe and accepting environment.
The Future of Work
The future workforce is not defined. Our children's jobs have not been created. Current employers are increasingly demanding that employees demonstrate competencies like teamwork, creativity and resourcefulness rather than scoring high scores on tests.
STEAM & Literacy
Students need a strong foundation in STEAM subjects as well as the ability to identify credible sources of information. With the increase in Social Media exposure, it is becoming increasingly difficult for students to trust authority figures which is why they need to think critically about the information they are consuming.
Environment
Students need to have an appreciation for nature and grow a desire to innovate in the area of sustainability.
Transparency
If elected I will make an effort to keep the constituency informed of decisions that the Board of Trustees are weighing, what was decided and how I voted. I will use multiple formats to communicate this information.
